Cape Kudu: A New Hotel Experience on Koh Yao Noi

Cape Kudu, the newest addition to the Cape & Kantary Hotels group, is situated on the serene and picturesque island of Koh Yao Noi in Phang Nga province. Its stylish brand and idyllic location make it an enticing destination for travelers seeking a tranquil escape. Eager to experience this haven, I embarked on a journey to the island, my excitement fueled by the prospect of discovering this hidden gem.

Our adventure began with a ferry ride from Bang Rong Pier in Phuket, a convenient starting point for our island exploration. At the pier, we were greeted by the welcoming presence of Cape Kudu's lounge, offering a comfortable and relaxing space to unwind before our journey to paradise.

The waiting area for the ferry is located inside. Complimentary tea, coffee, and snacks are available for hotel guests.

Note: When we booked the room, we had no idea how to get there. The hotel didn't tell us either. So, we had to buy the boat tickets ourselves. We sat and waited because we thought that when we booked the room, the hotel would book the boat for us too. Haha. We sat and waited for a full hour. Plus, the next available boat was full, so we had to wait another 30 minutes.

Speedboat fare: 200 baht per person

As the time approached, passengers gathered at the pier, laden with luggage and belongings, eager to embark on their journey to Koh Yao Noi.

The journey by speedboat takes approximately 30 minutes to reach the pier at Koh Yao Noi. From there, a shared taxi awaits to transport tourists for an additional fee of around 120 baht.

Note: We believe the hotel should offer a pick-up and drop-off service for guests. The guest informed the lounge that they were staying at the hotel.

We tried to forget the minor annoyances caused by our lack of knowledge during the journey. We chatted with other guests who were also staying at the hotel, turning the confusion into a shared amusement.

(However, we believe the hotel should improve its communication with guests.)

Let's skip ahead to the room tour. The room I booked for 4,800++ is a Deluxe Room, the smallest type available at the hotel. Other options include Pool Villas and Robinson Crusoe, which start at 8,000++. You can check out their website at www.capekuduhotel.com for more information.

My room has twin beds because I'm traveling with friends, and it also has a connecting door.

The room size is 45 square meters, which is neither small nor large.

It is divided into a shower room with a shower head and a rain shower, or you can take a bath in the bathtub.

The Lobby: A Daytime Oasis

While the lobby is stunning both day and night, the constant flow of guests checking in (mostly Thai nationals) during the day made capturing it a challenge. We didn't want to disrupt their arrival experience.

From the LOBBY, you can enjoy the view of the island forest in the middle of the sea.

Adjacent to the lobby, there is an air-conditioned lounge where guests can relax and watch TV in comfort.

Poolside is a restaurant.

Tonight's dinner was spaghetti and meatballs, and it was a hearty one-dish meal.

Yao-Noi Island Highlights

Early morning on Yao-Noi Island is a sight to behold. We went to bed early, eager to witness the island's beauty at dawn.

In the end, what we chose to eat for breakfast was sticky rice with fried chicken. Haha!

We have a little more time to enjoy the same view, but the atmosphere changes with time from morning to late morning.

After returning to the hotel, I took the hotel shuttle to the pier and bought a ticket at the original price to return.

Before returning, we took a long-tail boat trip to various islands near Koh Yao Noi. More details will be provided in the next review.
