Today we are excited to see if we will be able to see the Northern Lights at this waterfall. The Northern Lights are unpredictable, but today the sky is clear from midnight to 3 am.
According to the forecast on the website http://en.vedur.is/weather/forecasts/aurora/
From today's driving route, we've driven quite a distance.
After eating and sleeping for a while, I felt like I had regained a lot of energy. When I woke up, I saw a car parked next to us. We were the first to arrive at this spot. While waiting for the Northern Lights, I decided to go for a walk. As I mentioned before, I didn't know what kind of waterfall we were at. I had seen pictures, but I didn't remember the name. It was exciting to arrive in the dark and not be able to see anything, just hear the sound of the waterfall in the distance. We parked as close as we could, but we could still hear the sound of the waterfall. I'm sure it must be huge. I got out of the van and looked up at the sky. It had been a long time since I had seen a sky full of so many stars.
I stood there, shivering in the -1 degree Celsius weather. I quickly grabbed my tripod, camera, gloves, beanie, and headlamp and set off to find a good spot to take photos. After walking for a while, I set up my camera and took a test shot. The first thing I saw was how beautiful it was. I continued walking around, looking for different angles, but the icy ground made it difficult to walk. So I went back to get my ice cleats (the ones you wear to walk on ice) and put them on my shoes. Then I went out again and met a photographer from Scotland. He was taking photos (he must have been the owner of the car parked next to me). I went up to him and said hello. After a while, I told him that the sky would be clear from midnight to 3 am and asked if he would wait to take photos in case we were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights. He said, "Oh, really? The sky will be clear here tonight? This is the last day of my trip, and I'm leaving tomorrow. I haven't seen the Northern Lights in seven days." I told him, "We were very lucky yesterday. We saw them on the way here." I showed him the photos, and he said, "You're so lucky! The photos are beautiful." I said, "Maybe we'll see them again tonight." But he said he was going to eat dinner and come back later. He drove away, and I continued taking photos in the area. Until one of my shoe cleats fell off. I looked for it in the dark, set up my camera to take a picture, and then went looking for it. It was like playing a game with myself.
I walked back to my camera.
I kept looking around, thinking that if the Northern Lights came this way, I would capture them with this mountain in the background. After that, I went back to the car. My sister told me not to drive anywhere after this because it was dangerous. Yesterday was very dangerous. So after midnight, I couldn't drive anywhere else. That meant we couldn't move tonight if we didn't find the Northern Lights. So we had to try our luck. At the appointed time, midnight, the photographer Scott came back, but there was no sign of the Northern Lights. It seemed that the Northern Lights wouldn't come as scheduled, so we had to find a way to solve the problem. We decided to take pictures of the stars rotating. After trying to find the North Star, we drove the car a little further away to get a better angle. We walked to the edge of the frozen river, set up the camera, and took pictures. Then we went back to the car because it was very cold. It was about 1 a.m. at that time. More and more people started to come to this spot. There were three cars parked in the parking lot. I moved the camera a little further away. I was afraid that the water would rise and knock over the tripod. I was also afraid that the battery would run out. I was afraid that the camera would be stolen if I left it there until morning, because I might fall asleep and not wake up in time. So I decided to take pictures until 3:30 a.m. If I didn't find the Northern Lights, I wouldn't find them. In the end, the Northern Lights didn't come as scheduled, so I got a picture of the stars rotating instead. (I walked around so much to get this angle that I slipped and fell, and the ice sheet cracked.)
Once I was satisfied with the photos, I realized that I had to drive a long way back tomorrow. While waiting, I checked the cloud cover for tomorrow and found that it would be clear at the highlight mountain of the trip. I had planned that if the sky was clear there in the first four days, I would go back because if I could capture that, I would be able to travel to other places with peace of mind.
Finally, at half past three, I got enough photos to make a video, so I packed up my equipment and went to sleep.

I woke up at 10 am and the sun was starting to rise. I went out to wash my face, brush my teeth, and eat raw sausage (too lazy to fry) for breakfast. When I opened the car door, the sky looked very promising.
So I took a quick photo as a souvenir. Then, I thought about the original plan, which was to go swimming in the pool in the middle of the valley and then come back when the light was just right. So I decided to go ahead with it.

I'll go take a shower first because it's only 15 minutes away from here. This place is not well-known because it is not a major tourist attraction, so it's no wonder that not many people come here.
The scenery on the way was beautiful, so I stopped to take some pictures.
Today I wore a Doom never give up shirt and hat https://www.facebook.com/DoomNevergiveup/?fref=ts
I came out to take some cool pictures, it's been a while since I've had a place to park and take pictures like this. It's usually windy all the time.
After I finished taking pictures, I drove in according to the information I found earlier. I had to park my car and walk in for another 15 minutes. I prepared my bathing equipment.
I walked out of the car and looked ahead, over the ridge and up. To be honest, I thought to myself, where is it? I can't find the coordinates on the net. What should I do now? We saw two foreigners walking out from the front. I thought to myself that it must be in front of us, but my wife said where is it? I said, trust me, it's in front of us, but the path is difficult. There are only rocks. We passed two or three small rivers, walking carefully on the rocks, for fear of slipping and falling. Some of them were ice, and some of them could break like glass when stepped on. I stepped on them to relieve my stress. When I met a big river, I didn't see any pool at all. At that moment, my wife said let's go back. I can't walk anymore. I don't know where it is. But in my heart, I thought it must be here. Because I was carrying a drone, I flew the drone to explore the way. After a while, I looked at my mobile phone and found a pool hiding behind the hill on the left side in front of me. I showed her that it really exists, so let's walk on. My wife agreed to continue walking. We walked through mountains, rivers, rocks, and hills until we met.
The moment we found it, we were overwhelmed with pride. It was truly a private pool in the middle of the valley, completely secluded. There were three rooms for storage, and the air was so cold it was almost freezing. But we were determined to take a dip, having come prepared. As we entered the water, it was surprisingly warm compared to the usual river temperature. We were told that the water was piped directly from a mountain spring, and its warmth varied depending on the weather. It was impossible to guess the exact temperature without trying it ourselves. However, the area closest to the pipe was scorching hot, and the water was so deep that we couldn't even see the bottom. After swimming for a while, two foreigners approached us, looking surprised. They told us they never expected to find anyone at this hidden spot. (We thought to ourselves, "Well, we didn't expect to find it either.") One of the foreigners joined us for a swim, and soon after, a couple stumbled upon us, equally surprised by our presence.
It wasn't cold in the water, but when we got out, we started shivering, so we quickly got dressed. Then everyone started getting out of the water and walking away from the pool together, without any prior arrangement.
I drove back to the same spot hoping for a better sky.
A quick shot with the waterfall. Set up the camera and ran as fast as I could to the spot I had in mind. I ran back and forth until everyone around me was startled. It took a while to get this picture.
After taking enough photos, we continued our journey back to our next destination.
On the way, I was stopped by Ma again to take a picture. I saw many people stopping to take pictures along the way, so I thought that there was still time left to stop by for a bit, but I didn't have any cool pictures of the horse yet.
As I was driving back, I had to pass by the same place again, so I decided to stop by for a few photos.
Today, there was no one to take photos of the back, because the water had all turned to ice, so I slipped five or six times. It was so dangerous that at some points I slipped so much that I even fell over, but there was no one around, so I just laughed at myself on the ground. I fell, but the camera didn't fall to the ground. There was so much mud that it was scary, but I tried to take some photos anyway. Then I continued on my journey.
(The back picture will be uploaded when it's done. It's a bit difficult to make.)
