A dream snow trip at a world-class destination for lovers: cuddle in a clear glass Igloo, a tiny house amid the snow, hold hands while riding a reindeer-drawn sleigh through pine forests, soak in a jacuzzi under the Northern Lights and starlit night sky, in Santa Claus's homeland of Finland.

This trip to Finland was a continuation of our trip from Norway. We chose to fly directly from Bangkok (BKK) to Oslo (OSL) with Thai Airways, which was a comfortable and convenient way to travel. After enjoying our time in Norway, we flew to Helsinki and then took a train to Rovaniemi.

We chose to fly with Thai Airways this time because of their premium full-service offering. Highlights of the Trip

Every moment spent in this ethereal setting feels like a dream come true, a winter wonderland where the magic of nature unfolds before your very eyes.

Direct flights from Bangkok arrive at Oslo Airport (Gardermoen), Norway's main airport, which has been serving commercial flights since 1998. It remains modern and aesthetically pleasing.

The city boasts a comprehensive and convenient public transportation system, including trains, buses, and other services, making travel to various locations both domestically and internationally effortless and exceptionally convenient.

For those who have just arrived at Oslo Airport (Gardermoen), fret not, as onward travel is a breeze. The airport provides clear and easily accessible information and timetables for onward journeys. For instance, I plan to fly to Helsinki and then take a train to Rovaniemi to embark on my next adventure.

Arctic Treehouse Hotel

Upon arrival in Rovaniemi, we will rent a car for an extended sightseeing tour. We have opted to use SIXT car rental services, which offers Mercedes Benz vehicles for a safe and romantic driving experience amidst the snowy landscape.

Our primary accommodation in this city was the Arctic Treehouse Hotel, a luxurious collection of tiny house-style accommodations nestled amidst the city's renowned pine forests.

Santa Claus Village

For those who are passionate about Christmas, this is the place to be. This village is considered the birthplace of Santa Claus. According to legend, Santa Claus lives in the Arctic Circle, and the city of Rovaniemi has been designated as the location of Santa's home since 1985 by the Finnish government.

During the festive season, this village is adorned with Santa Claus, a popular Finnish tourist attraction. The village's ambiance is particularly enchanting and romantic during this time of year.

Vaattunkikönkä̈s

Standing amidst the captivating beauty of Vaattunkikönkä̈s, a magnificent waterfall in Finland, is an unparalleled experience. The cascading waters, coupled with the serene silence of the surrounding forests and mountains, create an atmosphere reminiscent of a fairytale realm.

While fortunate visitors may witness the breathtaking aurora borealis from this vantage point, the night of our visit was overcast, offering instead a picturesque panorama of snow-covered pine forests, a sight no less captivating.

Ounasvaara

Nestled amidst towering peaks and verdant pine forests, this snow-laden city transforms into a realm of wonder during heavy snowfall. Here, the enchanting spectacle of 'Snow Monsters' emerges, where snow accumulates on pine trees, morphing them into colossal, otherworldly sculptures. These behemoths of snow stand majestically amidst the forest, resembling mythical creatures frozen in time.

Foxfires Arctic Spa

Did you know that sauna and spa in Finland aren't just relaxation experiences, but are also an important part of their cultural heritage dating back to ancient times? Finland is considered the true birthplace of sauna. Sitting in a hot sauna surrounded by snow, or soaking in a spa amidst beautiful nature, are must-try experiences here.

Ounaskievari Ky

A sleigh ride through the snowy Finnish wilderness, pulled by reindeer, offers a romantic and enchanting experience.
