Burmese people have a strong faith in Buddhism ... Even when working abroad, they will go to make merit on important religious days. In Phuket, for example, Burmese people are especially fond of paying respects at the Big Buddha. I think Burmese people like to support their religion by building religious symbols such as Buddha statues and pagodas, especially in prominent high places ... And today in Phuket, some Burmese people of Mon descent have joined together to build a "replica of the Kyaiktiyo Pagoda" at Koh Sireh Temple as a place of worship ... I can tell you that in addition to gaining merit and peace of mind from going up to worship, you will also be able to enjoy the beautiful views of Phuket.

I went exploring today and have some photos of the evening light to share. I arrived a little late, so I missed the golden light because the sun had already set behind the mountain... I'll have to find an opportunity to come back again, especially in the morning, which should be just as beautiful.

I arrived a little late. The lights in the church where the reclining Buddha is enshrined were already off, so I couldn't take any pictures. I only got a picture of the side of the church instead. Actually, there were many Buddha statues at various points along the road leading up to the church.

The replica of Phra That Intharawat is located behind the south side of the chapel.

Besides the Phra That, the view here is also beautiful. Looking out, you can see Phuket Town on the west coast.

If you have the opportunity to visit Phuket, don't forget to find a chance to pay respects to the Buddha's relics and enjoy the view.

Travel

The replica of Phra That Intharawat is located on Siray Island (not an actual island, just a name) ... It's on the same route as the Westin Siray Hotel, but the Siray Temple will be reached first. When you drive up to the temple, take the asphalt road on the right and keep driving until you see a small pavilion with a Buddha statue. Find a parking spot there and walk up the stairs to the top where you will find the church which houses the reclining Buddha. The Phra That is located behind the church.

Note: From my research, one of the people who proposed this project is Mr. Jamlong Varabutra, along with Mr. Naka Monset. The second person is likely to be a Mon, but I'm not sure if the first person is Thai or Mon. If I have more information, I will let you know later. However, I would like to express my appreciation to both of them and to all the devotees who have come together to create this religious object in Phuket.
