I wasn’t able to hide my excitement when we finally reached Suriname. For those who are not aware, this is a sovereign state on the northeastern Atlantic coast of South America. It used to be a Dutch territory, hence, the language and the architecture. It is also known as the smallest country on the continent. But don’t let that fool you because Suriname has a lot to offer. I have to tell you, Jon and I were doing so much that we ended up quite worn out, so we were really happy to have Jacana Amazon Wellness Resort and Spa to come back to and recover each day!

Why should you spend your honeymoon in Jacana Amazon Wellness Resort in Suriname?

They say that staying at Jacana Amazon Wellness Resort is like going to another dimension. Well, I couldn’t agree more. Having such a serene, tropical environment so close to the city center is an accomplishment of design and spectacular landscaping. The Food

We ate our dinner at the in-house restaurant, which served a modern menu of delicious international cuisine, making the most of the wide variety of local ingredients combined with foreign flavours to give classic dishes a unique spin. The poolside setting, with the fresh warm air and the sounds of the waterfall complete the experience!

Commewijne River – How about taking photos of the dolphins? It would be a great experience to have a river cruise and just enjoy the nature which is still ‘untouched’ by the modern world.

Presidential Palace – You can’t miss the Presidential Palace, it’s right in the middle of everything, where you can marvel the awesome architecture and take a walk through years of history.

Independence Square – This is not your usual town square because it holds a lot of stories in it. It’s a place where everyone gathers during special occasions. So if you happen to be in Suriname and there are festivals, head to Independence Square for a first-hand experience of the culture.
